SIR HENNIKER HEATON

Many politicians, representatives of leading commercial firms, Sir William Hall-Jones (High Commissioner for New Zealand), Sir Georgo Reid (High Commissioner for Australia), and the Australian Agents-General witnessed the presentation to Sir Henniker Heaton ait the Guildhall. Lord Curzon, who made the presentation, described the recipient's work as one in the interests of international peace, Imperial unity, and commercial progress. Sir Henniker Heaton, in returning thanks, referred to the help he had received from Mr. Joseph .Chamberlain when the latter was Secretary of State for the Colonies. If the Government would spend an amount equal to that spent on mail subsidies seventy years ago, they could have penny-a-word cablea to the most distant possessions of the Empire. SERVICES TO EMPIRE.
