TROUT FISHING.

AUCKLAND, 23rd April. The fishing season will close at the end of next month. The president of the Acclimatisation Society informed a Herald representative that the fishing had not been as good this year as in previous years. This was accounted for by the fact that the trout were. very late this season in going up the rivers to spawn. The fish had also been smaller than they were last season. It is expected, however, that trout will be more plentiful in the rivers. during the next few weeks. With respect to a complaint that trout at Lake Taupo were affected with worm, Mr. 'Hazard states that, while some of the fish were undoubtedly suffering in this way, the complaint was not general.
