May Queen.— Tho Bright Smile crosscut is now passing through vory favourable country. , There is stnl about 40ft to drivo to reach Iho point at which the lode that passed through tho chamber should be met with. Tho manager Btates that this lodo is probably responsible for tho small lodos that woro passed through in the main crosscut not being mot with in tho May Queen crosscui,' aa.it is a Btrong quartz formation, and would bo likely to carry with it any smaller lode- joining, and when it is met with should <bo a largo body. Tho riso in tho Exchange roof is now up 80ft, tho reef at present being a clay formation with very littlo quartz, and underlying flat. Owing to the number of breaks mot with rocentlj, it is thought that tho lodo has boon missed, and a fow stopos ore being carried up from tho riso to the junotion of the mineral lode. In doing this good crushing dirt should be obtained. At No. 1 6 level, thu stopos on tho hangingwall branch of No. 4 lodo are being carried along, and the quartz still shows gold.,
