HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID TENDERS FOR THE YEAR.

The monthly meeting of tho Wellington Hospital and Charitable- Aid Board was held yesterday afternoon. Present — Me£srs. R. 0. Kirk (acting-chaiiinan), H. Baldwin, G. Nash, J. E. Fitzgerald, W. Galloway. R. Fletcher, B. R. Gardiner. J. Godber, A. H. Hindmarsh, G. T. London, J. W. M'Ewan, D. M'Laj-en, V. T. Moore, D. Robertson, J. Smith, W. Tonjpeitt, J. Trevor, 'Mise Richniondi and Rev. H. Van Stavercn. HOSPITAL COMMITTEE. The committee, amongct other things, recommended': — That tlio Central Mie« sion Silver Band be granted permission to give a performance the first Sunday the children's hospital is occupied. That i the registration of Charge Nurses R. Gil* mer and F. E. MacLennaa be accepted with regret. That accounts for ths month amounting to £2521 3s 8d bo ■passed for payment. That Mr. Alex. Young be appointed ateistant dispenser, vice Mr. Breen resigned. That a- letter of thanks be sent to Messrs. M'Mahon and Donnelly for their cheque of £15 10b, being proceeds' of an entertainment for extras for the sick children at Eastertide. That as the plan of 'Messrs. Crichton and M'Kay shows the accommodation asked for at a. considerably lower cost than that of the building as designed by another firm, the firm named be employed to carry out the new. out-patients and pathological block if proceeded with, and that in tho meantime they be requested to modify their plan to etill further reduce the cost. That the house steward be instructed to build a wood and iron coalhouse, and the tenders of Watts' Bros. (£i39 5s 6d), for erection of porch a,t entrance of children's hospital, and £30 8s for the brick retaining wall be accepted. That the following t-endeie be accepted for year ending 31st March, 1913: — Conducting funerak, R. Wilson and Co. ; supply of groceries, Town and Country Supplies Company ; supply of meat, Barber and Co. ; supply of fish, New Zealand Trawling and Fish Company ; supply of tea, if. Price and Co. ; supply of ales, wine?, etc., Laery and Co. ; supply of coal and firewood, New Zealand' State Coal and- Weetport Coal Company. That the tender of Meseis. Oliver and Thompson (£289), for the erection in brick of bathrooms at the Otaki Sanatorium, bo accepted. That the following tenders for supplies for the sanatorium be accepted: — Groceries. Mr. 11. F. E.. Cockrell and "Messrs. Bills, Moore, and Carpenter; meat, MeesiE. Noble and Co., and Messrs. Ho well and Co. : bread, Mr. J. Robinson and Mr. F. Beaumont. CHARITABLE AID. In terms of a- recommendation of the Charitable Aid Committee, the standard of outdoor relief, rations was fixed as follows: — For the city. — Weekly ration, meat 31bs, bread Albs, tea 2i<>z, sugar lib, other necessaries from an approved list to the value of 9d, according to prices fixed by the committee. For the country. — Meat, bread, tea, and sugar, ac for the city, other necessaries from an approved hot to the value of lOd, acocrding to the j>rices agreed upon with tb.6 suppliers. It was reported by the committee that as a result of the operation of the Widows' Pension Act, m the city live esses have ceased altogether, two causes have allowed of reduction.
