KILBIRNIE RECREATION GROUND TO THE EDITOR.
Sir, —Much has been said and written' about the above recreation ground. Now I notice the Corporation proposes buying some hilly property for lilling in, etc. As a ratepayer I Etroagly object. Tho council v. short time ago acquired a large block of sand hills at Lyall Bay, which will have to bo levelled before the land is of any use whatever. The City Council could shift thi3 sand -by trucks run on the present tram line for filling in at Evans Bey, and be improving their own property at the same time. A cheap branch line would have to bo constructed into the sand hills from the city boundary or the Lyall Bay torminus. This_ would be an economical way'of making this recreation ground, as the same trucks could bo used for running the manure from the city for binding the sand as the levelling proceeded, thereby converting tho present dreary sandbills into a very valuable property. —l am, etc., RATEPAYER,.
