HATAITAI ELECTORS' ASSOCIATION.
The Hataitai Municipal Electors' Association hold its annual meeting last evening, Mr. A. Leigh Hunt presiding, over an attendance of forty. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet (already published), thei chairman suid' that their requests for reports on widening the tunnel, the Eixon-grove, and Elizabeth-street routes had not been acceded to. If Mr. Wilford had given instructions in that direction, why were they not carried out? Funds had been collected, and the committee was in touch with a gentleman, who would probably prepare a report on the route via Elizabeth'street, which was the one mos|i favoured by the a'> 6Ociation. If this were obtained, it would, of course, b© promptly submitted to the members of the association. Other matters touched upon included overcrowding of, the trams, inadequate firealarm service, which is connected with the Kilbirnie Station and not tho Central Station, the former telephoning 'the latter, the question of air space between dwellings, concerning which press andi public supported the association, and the ne«d for drainage. The speakerlhought ,the Outlying Districts Committee of the City Council should visit such pla<*s as Hataitai and deal with questions on. the spot/ The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers were elected as follow :—President, Mr. A. Leigh Hunt 5 vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. W. Robinson, C. H.Seville, and J. Iteming; committee, Messrs. A. D. Bayfield, Batt, Edward*,, Bear, Kershaw, Mnguire, M'Goldfiek, Penny, Cheeseman, uiid W. Young; &ocretary, Mr. J. L. Arcus.
