WANGANUI, 11th April. The meeting of the Borough Council ended dramatically this evening. At a previous meeting, when two avowed opponents of tho motion were unavoidably absent, the council decided by a majority of one that the borough engineer's explanation of a charge made against him was not satisfactory. Five councillors thereupon left the hall as a protest, and, there not- being a. quorum then, the Mayor had to adjourn the meeting. '
