MARSDEN CENTENARY.
AUCKLAND, 11th April. In the month February, 1915, New Zealand will have an opportunity of celebrating what the Anglican Bishop of, Auckland (Dr. Croesley) referred to at' the Church of England Men's Societies' Conference as a most remarkable anniversary, namely, the centenary of the introduction of the cross of Jesus Christ with its message, il» hope, and its healing. In celebration of this great event Dr. Crossley said the Bkhop and Diocese of Auckland had been requested to. arrange for tho holding 0! the firet great and united Church Congress for New Zealand. "The name of Marsden," continued the Bisiiop, "is to be enrolled on the list of heroes iv the battle line of God, and we would be unworthy inheritors of the sticriiico and daring of himself and hw comrade missionaries if we did not make a great move to witness to the world that on ths hundredth' anniversary of the landing of Maraden we were desirous oi' commemorating the event by some great and common attain." (Applause.) The speaker said he had little doubt that they would bo able to obtain visite by Bishops, not wily from Australia, but from Canada, the United State?, the Church of England, the Church of Ireland, and Episcopal Church of Scotland, and probably from South Africa. trumpets, but of penitential resolve to be up and doing as was Marsden when he preached the Gospel at the Bay of Islands. (Applause. )
