KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL
The following were present at last night's meeting of the Karori Borough Council t — The Mayor. . ..(Councillor Cathie) and Councillors Standen, .Horn, Burn, Nuumo, Bradaock, Frost, and Anderson. It was resolved 'on the reeomrnandation of the Public Works Committee :— "That tho remainder of tho Evelyn Estate streets -be taken over, provided that the strip of land on the couth boundary between Espin-crescont and the em bankment over the Kaiwarra Stream be dedicated to tho council for a .drainage reserve; that .the requirements of the borough engineer now being carried out be completed . to his satisfaction ; that the owner pay over to the council the sum of £74 13c 5d to complete further work, as laid 4 down in a schedule previously v supplied, and that the fence erected across Wateon-Ktreet be removed before the streets are. taken over. The recommendation of the Tramways Committee that the question of reducing the service on the trains stand over until the Tramway Board had forwarded their scheme for an improved ser- # vice to the Gardens was adopted. A detailed report of tho works carried out during the past twelve months wa» submitted by the borough engineer. Although some of the allocations out of the general accounts were exceeded the aggregate of expenditure on public works will bo topped by a* small surplus of about £70, when credited with receipt*;.
