'The Pacific Cable Board's, steamer Iris left Auckland laet evening an a two' months' cruife. • -She will visit the board's stations at Norfolk, Suva, and Fanning lslands, ( the. three transmitting stations between Vancouver and Sydney. Relieving members of the vai'ious staffs are on, the vessel, which also carries stores for the outlying stations at Panning Island. A refrigerating plant i 9 to be erected at the latter place for the use of the 6tation staff. Tho operations at Norfolk Island, including the erection of a refrigerator, will keep ,th© steamer there about three weeks. She will then return to Auckland, via Fiji.
