VICTORIA COLLEGE DEBATING SOCIETY
The annual general meeting of the Victoria College Debating Society was held at the college -on Monday evening. The annual report showed the club to be in a satisfactory condition. The representatives of the society, Messrs. C. H. Taylor, M.A., and M. H. Oram, M.A., were successful in again winning for Victoria College the Joynt Challenge Scroll at the iuter-UjriVersity tournament at Dunedin. The winner 'of the Union Prize was Mr. W. J. M'Eldowney. Despite a faling-off in subscription, the finances of the society are in a satisfactory condition. • The election of officers resulted as follow: — Patron, His Excellency the Governor; presidents, Mr. W. F. Ward, M.A.j LL.B.<; vice-presidents, Messrs. A. E. Caddick,M.A., and W. J. M'Eldowney; secretary, Mr. G. G. G. Watson; treasurer, Mi." 6. C. -Jackson, 8.A. ; committee, Messrs. Broad and Strack (and 4wo-ya^iias jiot yet elected) ; auditor, Mr.'tA.-^iirl LL.B.
