NEW HALL AT KHANDALLAH.

Perhaps one of the most successful functions that has taken place at Khandallah was at the opening of the new hall last evening. The local Bowling Club gave a concert ajid dance to commemorate the occasion, and the iiali was packed. A party of performers belong- 4 nig to the Wellington Orphans' Club, headed by Mi*. Keenan, tho secretary,, provided a programme of musical, vocal, and instrumental items, which proved to be exceptionally entertaining, several of the performers receiving emphatic recalls. Mr. H. Petereen played a pianoforte solo entitled The Witches'' Dance," and Mr. VV. Goudie, who js a young 6inger with much promise, sang " Nita Giano," and had to respond to a recall. Mr. C. Girdkstone created great laughter with his impersonations. Mr. B. Noton was heara to advantage in " Come into the Garden, Maud, for which an encore was demanded. Mr. •I. Parker roused the audience with two excellent cornet solos. Mr. C. Hickmott, who possesses a fine baritone voice, Bang two solos with taste, and 'had to egali. respond. Mr. Zante Wood, winner of the humorous section in' the recent New Zealand competitions, gave some unusually clover impersonations,' and received quite an ovation. The Mayor thanked the members for their excellent programme, and complimented tho commit too for the arrangements. Supper and dancing concluded the evening.
