A protest has been made by the Canadian Government to th© "United States against a proposal to take additional water supply for the Chicago drainage canal from the Great Lakes, as the cara'ying out of such a scheme would be likely to lower tho level of the canals on the St. Lawrence River route, and gravely interfere with Canadian shipping.
