SERIOUS FIRE AT RAETIHI. BUSINESS PLACES DESTROYED. [VX TELEGRAPH — PHESS ASSOCIATION. J TAIHAPE, This Day. Just before midnight on Saturday a fire broke out in a block of buildings opposite tho Post Office at Ractihi, resulting in tho destruction of the premisea of Loveday and Co., drapers; Stubbs, ironmonger ; Bennett'p tea rooms ; Booth's billiard-room ; and Goadger's livery stables. Tho brigade was unable to use the engine owing' to being short of water supply, but excellent service was rendered by a bucket brigade, whereby the adjoining block was saved. A large amount of Loveday's goods, and most of Stubbs's, were saved ; also the contents of the stables. The insurances are not yet available.
