WELLINGTON CLUB*. In submitting the fourteenth annual report of the Wellington Hockey Club, the committee states that tho membership roll is satisfactory, there being Tour life members, two honorary, and thirtyeight active members. As at the commencement of tho season there, were 18 I only of the previous season's players available, the fact that the club, throughout the season, managed to place three teams in the Held, reflects great credit upon tho energy; and keennees shown by members. It is with the deepest regret that the committee records the death of Mr. Robert Dobson, who was drowned at Lyall Bay, on 10th Decembsr. The deceased was one of the most promising players in the club, and on account of his sterling qualities, on© of the most popular. Another player, whose resignation through transfer, was most keenly felt, was G. K. Harty, a representative player, and keen worker. Although the club i 6 losing a. number of senior and other players, mainly through transfer, the- prospects for the coming season appear bright, as the committee has had promises of support from several players, and also new mon. It is the earnest wish of the committee that members display thu eamo energy in procuring new players as was shown last season, in which case an additional team could be- placed iv thefield. The financial position, despite a largo amount of extraordinary expenditure, its satisfactory, there being a- balanco of £4 lGs in the bank, with £b Vis 5d in hand. Tho committee- regrets that the playing record of tho senior team was not very satisfactory, but the number of goals scored against it is no criterion, as 111 several matches the team was shorthanded, owing to lho defection ol one member. The- team finished fourth. Matches pla_\ cd, 10 ; won, 3; lost, 6; drawn, 1; goals for, 20; against, 32. Tho same inconsistenoy, as of previous season*, was again displayed, namely, of making good fights against fctronger teams and being defeated by weaker ones. The junior team, iv spite- of adverse circumstances, put up a fine record in defeating most of the leading teams. After losing the first three gameu this team was only once defeated eubsequently. Their record reads—played, 11'; won, 6; lost, 4; drawn, 1; goals for, 25; against, 18. Owing to the huge- number of resignations at the end of the previous eeaeon, the third team suffered bomowhat from lack of players until late in the season, but the club has every reason to be proud of their performance in battling right through the round. With only two of the previous season's players, to have finished fifth is quite satisfactory. Games played, 15; won, 5; lost, 6; drawn, 2 j goals for, 22; against, 42. The following are to be congratulated upon obtaining representative honours — Messrs. Morpeth and Dunn. Messrs. Gill. Haigh, and Tewsley were also selected for the junior reps. The thanks of the club are due to Messrs. J. H. B. Ccatoe, E. D. Bell, E. G. Iked, and D. IL Mcnzies, for donations ; to Mr. A. S. Bisjs. for his kind assistance- in revising the club rules; and to Messrs. Morpeth and Morrah for the u&e of rooms for meetings. KAROni CLUB. Members of the Knrori Hockey Club entertained last yearV champions at a femoko concert on Saturday evening, Mr. XV. J. Organ (chairman of tho Wellington Association) presiding over an attendance of about t>ixty. Musical and other items were- rendered by Messrs. Hunter. Muir, Mason, G. and L. Davie, Smytho, Goiter, Hendeieen, Fiulayson, Cooper and Anclcreou.
