[BT TZLBQBAPH — BJ»*CIAI, TO THB POST.] OTAKI, This Day. . Ibe tender of Mrs. M'Hardie, for a five years" lease of the Otaki railway refreshment rooms has been accepted. Owing to lack of support accorded the Salvation Army here, it has been decided that in future the town be treated-jvs an outpost station. The local officer ir charge will probably be transferred to Napier. - • A half-caste (Mr. Harry Barnett) died at Waikanae on Thursday, death taking place after an illness extending over a. few weeks. Deceased, who was about 45 years of age, was well known in the lower portion of the district. A tangi is in progress. Owing to the weather being unfavourable for burning, practically no bush has been set alight this season. The one or two who applied the fire-brand were not successful. "Maurice Maeterlinck, the Mybtio of Intelligence," is the subject of tho third of the beries of sorinons on Present Day Leadorb of Thought boing given on Sunduy*oveuiiigs by Rev. W.
