' VICTORIA COLLEGE SPORTS. The annual sports of Victoria CollegtAmateui 1 Athletic Club are being held this afternoon en the Kelburue Park. Entries are numerous. Intending- competitors at the Waikanaes athletic sports, to be held on Easter Saturday, are notified by advertismenv that the time for icceiving nominations has been extended to Monday, 25th instant. A passing reference to the Chinese question arising out of the recent disturbances in Cabhel-street was made by Dr. Thacker at the meeting of the Chrietchurch Women's Social and Poli- t tical League this week. "The Chinamen I -are allowed to come into the country," said Dr. Thacker, "and they have every xight to enjoy their freedom while here. But if the Dominion did the right thing it should buy up the property of all Chinamen, pay back the poll taa. with accrued interest, and then hire suitable steamers and give the Chinamen a good fast trip back to China." His Lordship Bishop Julius intends leaving on 9th April on a visit to England, and does not expect to return to Chmtchurch till- about the end of the year.
