EXPLOSION AT BACON WORKS
BOILER'S AERIAL TRIP. fur TELEGRAPH— PKEBS ASSOCIATION 3 HAMILTON, This Day. A peculiar explosion occurred at the Co-operative Bacon Company's works at Irankton. Lavd -rendering operations were being proceeded with, when something went wrong, with the steam heater underneath. A loud ' explosion was heard, the effect of which .was that a big boiler of lard, weighing 2cwt, was blown right up through the loof over • the telephone wires on to the middle of the road* Two men were standing close by— one within a foot— at the time of the- accident, and a third close alongside on tho other side of the partition, fortunately no one was injured.
