CAPTAIN AMUNDSEN'S MODESTY. HE THINKS SCOTT SHOULD BE BACK NEXT WEEK. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. MELBOURNE, 22nd March. Captain Amundsen, has, arrived- here. Hi, vibited Mr. Fisher, Prime Minister, to-day. The explorer declines to give further particulars of his journey, modestly declaring that he reached the Pole by luck. Captain Amundeen states that he will not lecture in New Zealand, because he considers that is Captain Scott's ground. He thinks Scott' fehould arrive at Lyttelton next week. HEAVY FINANCIAL DEFICIT. (Received March 23, 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Captain Amundsen states that he has a heavy financial deficit, but is confident that the Norwegian Government and peopla will make it good.
