A Custard. — When making baked or boiled cusUrd the milk to bo used should bo scalded and sot aside to cool. Then make tho custard in tho ordinary way, and it will bo perfectly smooth. Colourod Tablo Cloths. — If ono cupful of vinegar is put with the water in which coloured tablecloths are washed it will prevent tbe colour from running. Iron when still damp, and they will look equal to new. Fine Crumbs. — To make breadcrumbs quickly, out tho soft, part from a stale loaf, put it into a clean muslin bag, tie the bag' at the top, and gently rub it with the hands for a few minutes. The crumbs will then be fine enough for anything. A Tost for Pork. — When pork is good the rind is thin, smooth, and cool _ to touch. Bacon should havo a thin rind, tho fat bo firm, and tinged red by tho curing; the flesh should be a clear red without intermixture of yellow ; it should firmly adhere to the bono. Chamois Gloves. — ChamoU leather gloves mubt be washed in a, -warm lather. Slip them on the hands co that tho i fingers can be easily rubbed. Rinse in a weak lather. Squeeze oufc tho water, then blow out the gloves and hang in the air to dry. To Remove Wall-paper. — To, remove wall-paper from a wall put a very damp cloth against tho paper, then press with a hat iron, and tho paper will come off quitb readily. This is a very quick way of removing paper, however stubborn. A littlo washing soda .iv the water will bo found a further half. ,
