The Herald states that the meeting of selectors to pick the fourth Test team and tho team to visit England was tho noisiest and most quarrelsome ever hold in connection with the national game, and finally it degenerated into an open rupture. Violent blows were exchanged, and blood flowed copiously. Clem Hill, the South Australian selector, resigned. He alleges that M'Alister, the Victorian selector, received a bad mauling at the hands of another selector. After Hill's resignation Iredale and M'Alister chose the teams. THE DISGRUNTLED SIX. WANT LAYER AS MANAGER* INTERVIEW WITH CARTER. (Received February 5. § a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Hanson Carter, the wicketkeeper, interviewed, states- that the disgruntled players will wait till the whole team is chosen, which will then consider the question of appointing its own manager. If the team considers a manager besides the one appointed by the Board of Control is necessary, and approves of Layer, whom the six desire, then the six will go to England} but they will not go unless Layer goes. \ , THE TEN CERTAINTIES. SYDNEY, 4th February. ' The selectors have chosen the following ten certainties, provided they accept, for the Australian team to tour England : — Hill, Armstrong, Ransford, Carter, Cotter, Hordern, Trumper, Car. keek, Bardsley, Minnett. Six dtefruntled players are included, and aye ten , days to decide whether they will accept. Hordern recently announced that he did not intend to go, but the selectors have no official information on the matter; therefore he ie included. FOURTH TEST TEAM. ' ' SYDNEY", 4th February. The following Australian team has been chosen for the fourth test match : —Hill, Armstrong, Trumper, Cotter, Ransford, Bardsley, Carter, Hordern, Minnett, Matthews, Relleway, an d Maclaren (Queensland).
