The trial of the man Campbell Moir, charged with the murder of Henry Trevascus, mining expert, on 31st October, hae opened. The evidence was similar to that given at the coronial enquiry. [Trevaecus'e mutilated body was found in a lodging house in Glebe. The mystery of his death baffled the Sydney police for some time. Eventually Moir, who is 19 years of age, was arrested in Melbourne. He is a nephew of Mr. H. C. Carmichael, who was Minister for Labour in the New South Wales Cabinet, but who resigned his portfolio on Moir's arrest. Evidence was given at the inquest that Moir made a statement in which he alleged that he visited Tre* vaficus's house with a man named Cor* drien, for the purpose of robbing him. Cordrien Btruck Trevascus with an iron bar. Cordrien then shared the proceeds of the robbery with accused. Police evidence ehowed that all efforto to trace Moir's alleged accomplice had proved fruitless.]
