MASTER OF DENTAL SURGERY

HIGHER DEGREE IN DENTISTRY. In its report to the University Senate to-day the Medical Committee recommended, inter alia, that the degree of Master of Dental Surgery be instituted as the higher degree in dentistry, and that the following be the regulations, iot such degree :—: — A candidate for the degree of Master of Dental Surgery ndust have obtained the degree of Bachelor *of Dental Surgery, either at least two years previous^ iy, having been engaged during the interval in the private practice of his profession, or one year previously if he has spent the year in study at a recognised dental hospital. ' The candidate is required to present for approval a thesis, which, shall be & dissertation upon original work in, dentistry done by the candidate^ the candidate shall give six months' notice of the. subject oi his intended thesis. The candidate is also required to present himself for examination, which shall consist of two parts, a written and practical examination, on general dentistry, and a written and practical examination" on one of the following subjects at the option of the candidate : — Conservative dentistry, crown and bridge work, prosthetic dentistry, orthodontia, oral surgery relating to dentistry, dental pathology and bacteriology, and preventive dentistry.
