Active preparations have been made by local Maoris to provide " kai " (food) for a large number of Natives who have been summoned to attend. a big korero at Waahi (Mahuta's settlement near Hivntlyj, to-morrov/ in connection with the objection to' Dr. Pornare, M.P., the successful candidate for the Western Maori District, it being alleged that he is a three-quarter caste on the European iside, and is therefore not ' eligible to s'tt- as & Maoii member. It is stated' that should tho allegation be proved, Messrs. Hsnara Kaihau (the ex-member) and Pepene EketoiK*, two of the runuereup at the Tecent election, will have a straight-out fight for the seat .
