" THE CHOCOLATE SOLDIER." "The Chocolate Soldier" attracted another large audience at the Opera 1 House last evening, and the delightful comic-opera was^ greatly enjoyed. The romantic incidents were presented with much charm by the' various artist*, and *he production rail smoothly throighout. Mr. Leslie Gaze as the Chocolate Soldier and- Miss Amy Murphy as Nadina w«re responsible for much of the success attained? and' their clever and artistic singing called forth repeated applause. They were well supported by other members of the company. The mounting of the piece was of a high standard, and much admired. The opera will be repeated this evening. JOHN M'GORMACK CONCERT. Wellington is to have but one opportunity o? hearing the renowned Irish tenor, John M'Cormack, and those who would hear' one of the leading tenors of the world should attend to-morrow evening at the Town Hall, when Mr. M'Cormack will be heard in operatic numbers and appealing Irish ballads. The former wiU include : "Dalla ' Sua Pace" (Giovanni), "Aria" "La Boheme (Puccini], "La Donna Mobile!', tVerdi).«JViiss Rosina Buckmann, the New Zealand vocalist, will sing "Jewel Song" (Faust), "Fairyland" (Hill), "Waiata Poi" (Hill). Mr- Alfred Kaufmann's numbers will, include "II laoerato" spirito" (Verdi), and "Rip Van Winkle" (Carroll), and Messrs. M'Cormack and Kaurmann and Miss Buckmann will collaborate in the "Faust" brio. Mr. Spencer Clay is accompanist.' Extra provision for reserved seats was made as from to-day. SKATING RINK. The programme shown for the last time at the Skating Rink last evening proved very popular all the week. Tonight there will be an entirely new programme, which will be headed by a fine production of the great historical event. The Siege of Calais." Actors to the number 0i'2500 are said to take part in this production, which is claimed to be* a masterpiece. Some of the latest subjects procurable from the manuiacturors will mo be introduced.
