It was, he stated, the intention of the department to, re value the area, included in the borough during the course of this year, but the work would not be accomplished at su'oh an early period of the year. as would admit of the use of tho flew values' for tbe purposes df the rating year 1912-13. Ho quite recognised that the existing roll values of Karori 'properties were not satisfactory in many instances, but to piit these values on a sound "and relatively uniform basis I a careful and thorough revision of Values was essential. Taking into acdoiint, however, the statutory periods for issuing notices, receiving objections, and possibly holding an Assessment Court, the final completion, of the, revision- and the entering of the "new: valu > etf % 6tt - '?he roll would have ¦¦ extended ~to a date subsequent to the date on which the. council would have struok-tlie rate" (bi .the, .yea?»' .Probably the 'revaluation of 'the Kaipri portion of ' the City of -Wellington would bo made OOncurmnluy with, the revaluation of •Ka.rorl borough in " view of the fact that both areas' were" liable for tramway rate. Councillor Hamilton said it was understood that a number of ratepayers had applied to the department tor revaluations. Ue did not know whether these applications would be attended to at once, but he -was of opinion that the council should protest against private individuals haviug revaluations before the revaluation, of the borough as a whole was made, • ,'l'he Mayor sale) it was a question whether or not the Valuer-General opuld rei'usa to make revaluations for individuals, but' he quite agreed that it was unfair to value one pare of ihe borough and not, the \Vhole of it. , • - AltA It was resolved, on the motion of Councillor .Hamilton, seconded by Councillor Fro3t,' that the Mayor interview thto Valuer-General and point out, to him the unfairness of granting further individual applications for revaluation.
