On New Year's Day a Ladies' Bracelet raco was flown from Mastertou. Two hundred and eighty birds were liberated at the Caledonian Society's sports in a streng westerly ffulo, which prevented the birds orosßinjr the range of mountains, and thus spoilt what Would have been an interesting race. Collins) Sea Eagle, 926.8 yards per minute, 1: Mr.JW. Bailey's (P. Palmer) Surprise 11., 982.6 yards, 2; Mr. G. S. Neon's (H. Adams) Huia, 918.3 yards, 3. A groat deal of interest is being taken in an nttempt to fly from beyond the Three Kings to Wellington^ a distance of about 550 miles. Tho birds will bo liberated off the boat on her way "to Sydney this morning, no matter what .the state- of the weather. This is tho longest distance yet < attempted by Wellington fliers, nnd<tho owners of tho birds sent are confident that, given §no weather at the start.they will get their birds homo in good time.
