METHODIST CHURCH.
The quarterly meeting of the Board of Management of the Taranaki-etreet Church was held last evening, under the presidency of the Rev. J. G. Chapman, i'her© was a large attendance of members. Tho circuit «tewards presented a very encouraging report, which revealed that satisfactory work was being done by all the agencies of the Church in the circuit. The balance-sheet ehowed nearly £43 to credit on the quarter's working. The work of tha Rev. J. G. Chapman, especially in the pulpit^was highly commended, and pleasure expressed at the increasing interest of tho people. The Tory and Aro-street Mission reports were of a satisfactory character So urgent io the necessity for increased school accommodation at Arostreet that - immediate steps are to be taken to provide it. Harvest thanksgiving services will be held in February. Mr. W, H Bennett was reappointed Sunday. School visitor for' the ensuing year. Appointments were made of officers to fill various positions in the Church. Messrs. W. E. Redstone and L. J. Clark, circuit stewards, were eulogised for past services, and unanimously reappointed to their positions for another year, It was decided to invite conference^ to meet in Wellington in 1913, when it is expected that Methodist Union will be consummated. A strong resolution was, carried protesting against the action qf the Canterbury quarterly meetings endeavouring to arrange that conference should meet in Christchurch in 1913, Wellington having prior claim. Delegates to conference — Messrs. Clark nnd Tiller— were urged to protest. Messrs. Bolton and Raino were elected substitute i-epfeeentativeß to conference.
