LATE SPORTING.

ELLEBSUE TRAINING NOTES. [*X TILEOBAPH— I-EESS ASSOCIATION.] ' AUCKLAND, This Day. Work at Ellerslie^ this morning was generally of an unimportant character. Eqnitas spurted four furlongs on the grass in 63sec, and Beldame six furlongs on the same track in lmin 22eec. Bobrikoff did strong work, and was very sore on pulling up. Hawick was schooled over a cotiple of rounds, fencing well. f Prosser's team arrived yesterday. Th« success of Aberbrothock in the UMasterton Cup was scarcely anticipated, for the assumption was that he would mot be ready. He is evidently fairly forward, however, and will no doubt now be well fancied for the big handicap at Awapuni, in which he will have to carry 8.12. Peroneal, who won the Trial Stakes at " Masterton, is a two-year-old filly by Achilles, from Prelude, dam of Killaloo. She was purchased at the last Waikanae yearling sales for 220 guineas on behalf of Messrs. W. G. and G. L. Stead, on whose account she was sold to Mr. I. G. Duncan last month for 75 guineas. HUTT VALLEY TKOTS. The annual meeting of the Hutt Valley Trotting Club, which takes place on the Petone Eecreation Ground on Boxing Day, promises to bo a very successful gathering. Prominent performers from all over New Zealand are competing, and excellent sport should be witnessed. Ihe fields in each of the seven events are large. The first race is timed for 12.30. Trains leave Wellington for Petone every half ho»ur, and there will be a totalisator on the ground in 'charge of Mr. J. Ames.
