THE NAVAL STATIONS.
In the rearrangement of naval stations tinder the new defence scheme Australia will be responsible for her own waters, British New Guinea, Norfolk Island, Lord Howe Island, and the- Macquaries, with the coast of the Antarctic 'continent directly to the South. Canada 'takes a small corner out of the north Pacific containing no islands except tho Aleutian group, which are American. The rest of the Pacific, the East Indies, the Straits Settlements, the Pacific Islands, and the East belong to the China Station, of which New Zealand is a part. Fiji is not handed over to Australia.
