KILBIRNIE SKATING RINK.
The proprietors of the Kilbirnie Beach Skating Rink are holding a fancy dress and poster carnival on Wednesday l'evening, when- prizes of the estimated value of £35 will be competed for. Entries for the one-mile championship close tonight. It is announced that ample seating accommodation will bo available. *A debate,' "Ir» the event of war between any of the great Powers, would ahy benefit accrue to the nations or nations that won," took place at Wesley Classroom, Taranaki-etreet, last evening. Mr. G. F. Gapper affirmed and Mr. E. Gumming opposed, and at the close the question was put to the vote, and the majority decided in favour of the negative. Mr. W. E. Fuller, vicepresident", occupied the chair, and announced at the close that Maeterlinch s play, "The i Blue Bird," will be read and discussed at the next meeting of tho society, •
