WESTERLY STORM APPROACHING.

A light shower of rain this morning proved to be the herald of somewhat unpleasant weather conditions which have t prevailed through the forenoon. A boisterous northerly has made iteelf particularly obnoxious in the city. The rain reappeared early in the afternoon, and looks very much like continuing. The Government Meteorologist predicts a northerly, strong to gale, veering by the wcefc to the south after about twenty-four hours in most parts of the country, and, probably, a heavy westerly gale in Cook Strait to-night. Generally, etormy weather is anticipated, with rain general, rivers flooded on west Coa-st, snow on higher levels, to be followed by much colder conditions in about twenty-four hours. During the past twenty-four hours unsettled and cloudy -weather has been experienced throughout the Dominion* rain having falkn in many parts of both islands. Atmospheric pressure has decreased everywhere with the approach of a westerly storm area.
