WELLINGTON PRESBYTERY.

There was a large attendance afc the meeting of the Wellington Presbytery this morning at St. John's Church. Rev. L, Thompson, M.A., presided. Rev. A. Morton, of Wanganiii, wa3 present and associated with the presbytery. ' ; As a result of the Tecen<* visitation of . the Martinborougb charge, a commisi Kion' consisting f of Eevs. Howell, \ M'Carr, and Tennent, and Messrs. F. ■ Feist and W. Allan was appointed to ! visit tho southern portion of the charge with the view of erecting it into a home mission station.' A petition from the congifegaikma of the presbytery mtuated in the Wairarapa praying the assembly to take such steps as are necessary to form tho charges of Martinborough, South, Wairarapa, Carterton, Masterton, and Pahiatua f and the home mission stations of Eketahuna and Pongaroa into a new presbytery, to be known as Wairarapa Presbytery, was brought forward. In support of the petition, it . was pointed that con* tfiderablo hardship m experienced by members of the firmbytery residing in the Wairarapa. and adjoining districts in their regular attendance at meetings} fiat the interests* of the two portions indicated are far from identical, the one being entirely rurai, and th* other city and suburban j and that bfae home mis ston and church extension problems ia these parta could be more. adequate;/ and effectively dealt with by a presbytery ntore^or lea* local and. entirely conversant, with, tho condition. Rev. A. T. Thompson moved, aoi «P.ev. E. G. Tennent seconded, that the petition b© adopted and tratiemitted* to the assembly, with the recomniss&tioft that the prayer of the petition be granted. The motion; was carried. ' Half-yearly reports of a satisfactory nature wero received from tbe home mission stafcioas of Eketakuna, Upper Htttt* Ron* Bay, Wadedtowny and Seatoun.
