Tom Bain, probably the best forward in Canterbury this year, lost two fingers and part of the third of the right hand in an accident with a rivetting machine yesterday. Me will be unable to make the Southern trip with the Canterbury beam. Oram, who stood out of the Canterbury team against Taratiaki on Satur^ day, is still unable to play. Maxwell and Shadbolt will fill the places in th« Canterbury team for the Southern tour.
