MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court to-day. Henry Ganning, who was found in a state of htelpless drunkenness yesterday, was remanded for a week for medical treatment. A man named Abraham Davies, who booked a passage to San Francisco by the Maitaa yesterday and then went on board t\he vessel in a drunken condition and assaulted a steward named Lionel Broilgh, was fined 5s for drunkenness, and' fined £2, with the option of seven days' imprisonment, for assault. He \Was also ordered to pay two witnesses' expenses, 4s each. Henry Fabian Hansen, who allowed two cows to wander, was fined ss» with costs 7a. On the application of . Lilian Winnie Connell (represented by Mr. C. R. Dix), Ethel Frances Love was bound over to keep the peace for a period of bix months. The application Was the outcome of an assault case heard some weeks ago, in which both parties were penalised. Mr. P. W, Jackson appeared for defendant.
