The Fedei*al Arbitration Court has delivered judgment on the claim of tho Engine-drivers and Firemen's Association of Australia, which- affects a largo number of the leading mines throughout the Common wealth. Rates of wages have been fixed as follow : — Locomotive and winding engioe'drivers, lie to 12s a day; other enginedrivers, 9s to 10s; firemen in charge of ono boiler, 8s 4dj firemen in charge of two boilers, 9s ; greasers and cleaners, &s. The court said it did not think a case had been made out for preference to unionists. , The working hours have been fixed at forty-eight weekly, excepting in the case of locomotive-drivers, regarding whom it is impossible to fix hours.
