A deputation from the Labour Council asked Mr. Holman, the Acting-Pre-mier, to appoint a Royal "Commission to enquire as to the increared cost of living. The deputation mentioned different alksged combines, and instanced, among other things, that wages in the boot trado had increased by twopence a pair and the retail price by from fifbeenpence to two ehillings a pair. Mr. Holman promised that he would mako ar. almost immediate enquiry.
