Indications of the approaching winter are apparent in the keen nights and the misty early mornings. Wellington is experiencing genial weather conditions, but up in the north yesterday^ many districts received considerable rain, which was accompanied by strong easterly winds. Tho Government Meteorologist anticipates for this district and elsewhere southward of Cape _ Egmont and Castlepoint an easterly wind, changing to northerly. Cool and changeable weather may be looked for, with showers in many parts, especially in the North Island. A cold night everywhere is anticipated.
