At a Liberal caucus meeting an offer by the Opposition to vote supply, in order to allow Sir Wilfrid Laurier (Prime Minister), to attend the Imperial Conference, was debated. He hoped that freer trade with Canada would result ; the American people ought not to be alarmed with stories of ruin. Senator Gallinger, a Republican representing New Hampshire, said America would lose- ten million dollars of revenue without an adequate return.
