I -_ — . ~ r ASSOCIATION. MEETING OF N.Z. COUNCIL. A apecial meeting of the New Zealand Association Football Council wae held in the V.M.C.A. buildings last evening, Mr. H. N. Holme* presiding. Other members present were: Messrs. B. L. Salmon (secretary), C. E. Fordham, W. Welk, W. J. H. Reynolds, J. J. Rob-ea-ts/ M 4M 4 Oilier, A. Williams/ Waa-d and H. Godber. , Chief business before the meeting was consideration of a -letter— the full text of which has already been published — from the president (Air. G. A. Parker) of the Canadian Amateur Football Association, asking if it was- possible to arrange for a visit of an. 'amateur combinationi from England or an AngloCanadian team to the Dominion. '.L'he writer wished to know what financial arrangements, by way of guarantee or otherwise, the New Zealand Council could make. In the course of a lengthy discussion, it was pointed out that the visit might, possibly clash with" the proposed toiir of the New South Wales rewesentative team. According to Mr. Williams, the council should cease "dilly-dallying" any longer with the New South Wales Union. The last tour had been hanging fire for two or three years^ — quite long enough. To his mind the Australian proposal should be gone on Tvitli in preference to the Canadian offer. The secretary (Mr. Salmon) mentioned that nothing definite had been, decided by the council in .reference to the New South Wales visit. Until' the guarantee (to the amount of £175) of the Auckland Union was fixed up, it would be impossible to bring th« team over from Australia. It was moved by Mr. Roberts, that the Canadian Association be informed that the New Zealand Council -was willing to guarantee 80 per cent, of the gross takings. Several membmers expressed doubt as to whether the Canadian. Association would entertain anything short of the offer of a> stipulated sum. An amendment was moved by Mr. T. Shields, and seconded by Mr. W. J. H. Reynolds, that a sub-committee should be set up for the purpose of considering all details. The amendment was rejected in favour of the original motion. ' / 1 A resolution was also carried to the effect that in event of a tour being arranged, fourteen matches, if, possible, be played. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY.. ' J First Division. V.M.C.A. v.
