GRAIN MARKET.
[US TELEGHAPH — PBESS ASSOCIATiON.] CHRISTCHURCH,. 17th February The local wheat market is settling down to a lower basis of values, buyers having declined to do business, except at reduced rates, while some sales have still been effected at 3s Id. A fairly large quantity has changed hands during the last three days at 3s at country stations. Buj-ers for export are- not inclined to give more than 3s. as the state of the Home market does not warrant it. Oats are the scarcest article in the market, and merchants are unable to obtain supplies to fill their requirements, and they are restricted by their clients' limits from giving higher prices to encourage increased offerings. Barley, except very prime malting, is etill dull of sale. What little gra/ss seed is offering still commando a ready sale, and the demand for peas is still active.
