WATER SUPPLY.
THE DUPLICATION SCHEME. TENDER FOR PIPES ACCEPTED. A special meeting of the City Council was held to-day to consider the tenders for the supply of steel pipes for the duplication of the Wainui water main. After deliberating some time it was decided to accept the tender of Messrs. John Duthie and Co., Ltd. The Mayor is not able to give the amount of the lender yet, as the contract has not been signed. V-^o -tender of P. R. Baillie and Co., of - *"• cllington, for the supply of steel for the trams was also accepted at. vie same meeting.
A public meeting, under the auspices of I ■the W.C.T.U , will be held this evening. I ilis. Atkinson will be in the chair. ]
