FIRES.
OUTBREAK ON LAMBTON-QUAY. At 3.37 this morning the Fire Brigade received a call to an outbreak of fire at Hill Brothers' grocery establishment, Lambton-quay. There was an absence of wind and a plentiful supply of water, and the outbreak was quickly suppressedj, though Hot before a good deal of damage had been done to the shop and contents. The building, which is owned by Mr. S. Hannah, was insured for £1200 in the Atlas Office; the contents were insured in the United Office for £750. The premises next door, occupied by the Sims Hardware Company, weTe damaged by water. The building was insured in the State Office for £1000, and the contents in the Northern Office for £500. The business of both firms will for tne time feeing be transferred to their Cuba-street shops. At 6.43 p.m. yesterday the premises' of the Zealandia Co-operative Woodware Company, Little Taranaki-street, were found to be on fire. The outbreak was subdued by neighbours before the brigade arrived. Only a small amount of damage was done.
