THE PREMIER AT ASHBURTON.
[BY TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ASHBURTON, 16th February. The Piime Minister (Sir Joseph Waid) who arrived- in Ashburton this afternoon, addressed a. crowded meelins; of over 800 people at the Oddfellows' Hall to-night on the lines of recent speeches. He spoke for two hoars and defended the Government from recent attacks. He dealt at length with the favoured position of the country and expounded recent legislation. At the conclusion he was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and confidence.
