The receipts of the Wellington City Tramway Department for the past week wero greater by £461 6s than those for the corresponding period of last year. Last week'B figures were-: —

It is understood that, in the absence of Mi-. C. P. Skerrett. K.C., leadjno counsel lor the New Zealand Times Company, Mr. S. Solomon, X.C.. of Dunedin, with Mr. A. Blair, of Wellington, will act as counsel for lho company in the action for alleged libel brought by Mr. W. F. Massey, Leader of the Opposition, against the eompanv. Mr. H. D. Bell will act for Mr. Mawsey. The case will probably be heard at the civil siUingb of the Supreme Court, commencing .on the 13th. y-fbruar^. '
