THE STEAMER EASTERN. VESSEL SAFE IF WEATHER KEEPS FINE. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright, (Received January 27, 10.5 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. An unsuccessful "attempt was made to refloat the steamer Eastern, stranded at Salamander Bank. Proceedings are now being taken to lighten the ship. She will probably b* compelled to jettison 100 ionß of cargo. The vessel is considered safe unless bad weather sets in. [Salamander Bank is situated between More-ton Island and Bribie Island, twenty-two miles north of the Brisbane River. The only wind thai would affect the stranded steamer ia a wind from the north-east.]
