PEARL FISHERIES.

The Federal Department of External Affairs has informed the people connected with the pearl fisheries "that in future permits for the introduction or re-engagement of indentured labour will lapse afLer two years, and will be renewed only on condition that the diver and tender in 'the boats which are employed are white men. The regulation has caused consternation at the fisheries.
