NEW UNION STEAMER.

The Ihumata, a steamer built for the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, has been launched at Antwerp. [It was lately reported by "Fair Play," that the Union Steam Ship Company had purchased a steel screw steamer with a deadweight carrying capacity of about 2000 tons on a draft of 15lt lOin, dimensions 229 ft 3in by 35tt 6in, by 16ft lO^in, at present building by the Antwerp Shipbuilding' Company, Hoboken, near Antwerp, with engines 17in, 28in, and 46in, by 53in stroke, by the North-Easlcin Marine Engineering Company, Wallsend-on-Tyna. She has two boilers lift 9in by 10ft 3in. will steam about 9i knots, and wiU be ready about February next. It is believed that the price, including a large number of extras, is about £18,000. An exchange states that the new steamer Ihumata. now being built for the trade between Australia and New Zealand, and which will run in conjunction with the steamer Inga, has been Fixed to load Baltic pine at Frederickstadt for Melbourne.
