RAM FAIR AT HASTINGS.
SATISFACTORY SALES. [BY TELEGB.APH — PBESS ASSOCIATION.} NAPIER, 26th January. The annual ram fair under the auspices of the Hawkes Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society started to-day on ike Hastings Show Grounds. There was a good attendance. A feature was the large number of Romneys — nearly 3000, compared with 1800 last year. Some were good, but many inferior, and considering the quality the prices were satisfactorj r . Flock 'Romneys showed an all-round decrease on last year's values. Stud Romneys generally were of good quality, the top price being 100 guineas for a ram bred by Mr. Ernest Short, of Feilding. In Lincolns Mr. H. W'ybourne, of Whenuakura, obtained the highestfigure, 65 guineas. The sales effected are regarded as satisfactory considering the number and quality.
