SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS.
[BS TELEGBAPH — SPECIAL TO THE POST.} AUCKLAND, This Day. Seriouß- allegations of irregularities have been made in connection with the annual examinations for scholarships which took place recently at Aratapu (Northern Wairoa). The chairman" of the Education Board, in reporting the matter to the board yesterday, said : "The allegations reflect seriously "on certain persons in our employ, and it is necessary that the board should hold a most searching enquiry. There should be no room for even suspicion to rest on our employees. I am sorry these allegations have been made, but they were made to me in such a shape and. form that there is no option but to hold an enquiry. I may say that the Education Department consider the matter co grave that they intend having a departmental officer present." It was resolved to hold an enquiry at Aratapu next week.
